The advent of d-zine hub ECO

This is the green arm of d-zine hub called “d-zine hub ECO” (pronounced “design hub ECO”) which is somewhat dedicated to Mr. Erich Theodore Leigh (24.10.1950 – 14.06.2007) our great friend of 46 years and business partner of 3.8 years, without who’s help we could not have developed the business “Blue Planet Green” to the point that we did together and who’s hard work is still evident in the stock of products that are still in existence.

Accordingly we decided to open a green arm of “design hub” and call it “d-zine hub ECO” to fill the gap left by “Blue Planet Green” and continue with our vision under this new banner. We started again from scratch and after finding that a plethora of similarly named or themed concerns had since blossomed worldwide, we felt that a more unique name and a brand new beginning was definitely on the cards.

“There is always “an alternative way””

The philosophy (“there is always “an alternative way””) is evident in all of the designs which are generally zero emission and/or manually operated rather than being motorized or fuel driven will always be a basic principal upheld by the company.

One of our main aims is to eliminate all fossil fuel usage wherever possible, in a sustainable way.

Tony Wilkinson the managing member says:

“In 2002 I had the vision of starting an alternative energy and innovation business called “Blue Planet Green” for the development, manufacture, supply and installation of “Green” products, and to provide a complete service platform for innovators and inventors.

The basis of the business would be to instill a “Green” and “Proudly South African” mentality, in the hope that this would rub off on allies, associates and even the competition (the intention was that it would ultimately become a globally recognized supplier).

“The passion I have always had for “Blue Planet Green” as a concept, which was also fully endorsed by Erich, has taken a giant leap forward in this rebirth of the “Old Business” that was already pretty well established and then side-lined due to the unforeseen circumstances of Erichs’ passing.

I have done many hours of intense research and have taken a fresh look at the whole “Green” arena. I am completely smitten by the vast amount of development, education and general mindset change that has come about since the days of Blue Planet Green.

I believe we are on the verge of major change and am up to speed with many futuristic technologies that are evolving. We have many potentially ”very beneficial” ideas involving some of the exciting innovations I have encountered during my extensive research exercises.

We are encouraged to find that many of the products we planned on developing have already evolved to become “readily available” commodities which we can now source, supply, distribute and install freely.

There are still some legacy products in different stages of development and we have many pre-conceived and semi-designed products in our ever expanding repertoire.”
